Betsy Dodson

Betsy Dodson, BS/BA, MAC, has served in Whitman-cluster PTAs for the past 15 years in just about every role available (except for secretary because she’s not the best note-taker).  She treasures her experiences working with students, fellow parents and school staff in providing enriching opportunities for the entire school community.  Her favorite roles have been teaching in the parent-run planetarium at Wood Acres Elementary School and serving as a parent producer for the 4th grade musical (twice).  At Pyle Middle School, she worked closely with the school’s counseling department to host a monthly parent learning/discussion group with local experts presenting on challenges facing middle school parents.  She became a Whitman High School parent during the pandemic and worked to keep student clubs active during that time by creating a digital club catalog.  When students returned to school, she reimagined Student Clubs Night as an outdoor evening event with food trucks that quickly became the most attended event on the school’s calendar.

Along the way, she served on PTA boards for all three schools in roles such as Communications VP, Executive VP, President and Treasurer (twice).  She’s excited to serve as MCCPTA Treasurer and plans to focus her time in this role supporting local PTA treasurers, particularly navigating federal and state filing requirements.  She brings a wealth of knowledge to the role with her educational and professional experience as an auditor and corporate accountant.

At home, Betsy is the proud mother of a current college sophomore and high school senior.  She enjoys gardening, hiking, knitting and watching classic movies.
