special education

The MCCPTA Special Education Committee (SEC) advocates for families of students with special needs and accommodations (e.g., students with IEPs or 504 Plans).  SEC liaisons with MCPS and families to advocate for consistent implementation of and adherence to countywide provisions for special education services and accommodations per the Individuals with Disabilities Act (IDEA) and Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act.  SEC supports local PTA Special Education Chairs to assist families in their school communities as they navigate the MCPS system to support their students.
