MCCPTA PERFORMING ARTS FESTIVAL 2013
Rockville Town Center
Silver Spring Town Center
HOLD THE DATE: April 20-21, 2013

Montgomery County Council of PTAs (MCCPTA) is pleased to invite student groups to perform at the 2nd MCCPTA Performing Arts Festival, to be held on Saturday  April 20 in the Rockville Town Center and Sunday April 21 at the Silver Spring Civic Building at Veteran's Plaza!  MCPS has given approval for participation for this event, subject to your concurrence, and we are very excited to invite you to bring your Dance Club, Jazz Band, Choir, Ensemble, or student performers to perform outside at two of Montgomery County's premier outdoor venues.  Participation in this event has been approved by MCPS (Fine Arts Dept).

All performance groups featuring MCPS students are welcome, and there is no cost to the school group to perform.  This year we are also inviting "school musical" groups to do short teaser-performances to help advertise their shows, and have extended the available performance times.  We hope that we will once again get a wide variety of cultural dance and musical groups as well as see many more performers.

The relevant event information is summarized below.  Performances will be scheduled based on demand for time slots.  Note that for this event we are focusing on smaller musical and choral groups that do not traditionally have a county-wide performance venue and which can set-up and transition on stage in a short amount of time. we will not have risers for students to stand on, although there will be a stage at Rockville.
To help promote the 2013 MCCPTA Performing Arts Festival we have created a Youtube Video online.
The Trailer video shows the 2012 performances at Rockville Town Square and the Veteran's Plaza in Silver Spring MD.

This is an MCCPTA sponsored event, but participating schools will still need approval of the local school principals.  All field trip regulations will need to be followed, with support of MCCPTA and under the direction of the school principals and club advisers or band/choir directors.  Students/families must self-transport to the locations.

MCCPTA is also seeking in particular helpers to run the vent.  We need helpers both days for crew support, and we can provide SSL hours to volunteers.  To make sure the event is successful we are asking each performance group to provide a helper for part of the day.

RAINDATE:  The rain-date for Saturday will be a longer Sunday event in Silver Spring if the group can change and be there Sunday.  There is no raindate for Sunday, but if bad weather advisories are clear by Friday then we will open up and continue on Saturday for Sunday's performers if they can arrange the change their schedules and come to Rockville.
